President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday paid tribute to countless Filipinos who sacrificed their lives for the nation as he led the National Heroes’ Day commemoration at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.
“Ngayong Araw ng mga Bayani, binibigyang-pugay natin ang mga Pilipinong hindi naisulat ang pangalan sa mga pahina ng kasaysayan ngunit naging mitsa at apoy na bumuhay sa ating kasarinlan,” Marcos said in his speech.
He also recognized Filipinos who continue to serve with dedication and compassion.
The President emphasized that heroism is reflected in the everyday lives of ordinary citizens—farmers, fisherfolk, teachers, healthcare workers, laborers, and vendors—whose perseverance and service embody the spirit of bayanihan.
Marcos also led a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to honor the memory of fallen heroes.
