President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Saturday commended the country’s health workers for their unwavering dedication and hard work, saying their service continues to save lives and bring hope to Filipino families.
Speaking during his visit to Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital (DJFMH) in Sta. Cruz, Manila, Marcos acknowledged the vital role of health professionals in delivering care to those in need.
“You are continuing to save lives. You are continuing to give hope to our people, to our families, and that is the most important thing we can do—to give hope,” the President said.
“Thank you once again for all your good work. Please keep it up,” he added.
Known for its maternal, neonatal, and child care services, DJFMH has been implementing the government’s zero balance billing policy, which ensures patients receive medical treatment without the burden of hospital fees.
During his visit, Marcos witnessed firsthand how the policy eased the financial strain of three mothers whose combined hospital bills of more than ₱1.4 million were fully covered.
“Mukha namang maayos ‘yung pagpatakbo ng zero billing na programa ng pamahalaan… we have to congratulate all our health workers because we know how hardworking and dedicated you are,” he said.
From July to September 2025, DJFMH provided a total of ₱104,226,650 in hospitalization expenses for patients under the zero balance billing program of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
President Marcos also pledged to strengthen PhilHealth programs to help more Filipinos access affordable healthcare.
“Yung mga pasyente na hindi na magamot dahil wala kaming pambayad, maayos na ngayon ‘yan. Hindi na sila kailangang magbayad. Mayroon silang hospital na pupuntahan at ang government ay mag-aalalay sa kanila,” he said.
