President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. vowed to hold accountable all individuals involved in irregularities surrounding government flood control projects, stressing that neither allies nor close associates will be spared.
“Walang sisinuhin, walang malapit sa puso, walang kaalyado. Kung sino man ang involved dito, sasampahan ng kaso,” Marcos declared.
In a Palace briefing on Wednesday, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro reaffirmed the President’s resolve to pursue charges and secure justice for communities repeatedly affected by severe flooding.
“Sinabi naman din po ng Pangulo na hindi ito titigilan at tatapusin niya ito bago siya matapos ng termino,” Castro said, emphasizing that legal action will be taken against erring officials.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Marcos has ordered lifestyle checks on government officials. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has also launched a comprehensive audit of flood control projects.
To date, the President has inspected 11 flood control-related projects in Marikina, Iloilo, Bulacan, and Benguet following complaints received through the sumbongsapangulo.ph website, a platform for reporting defective or questionable infrastructure.
Castro urged the public to continue filing reports on suspicious government projects to strengthen accountability.
