Marcos Oversees YAKAP Caravan, Aid for Teachers in La Union

Must read

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. capped his visit to La Union on Friday by leading the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) Caravan at San Agustin Elementary School in San Fernando City.

The caravan offered a range of healthcare services including medical check-ups, free medicines, laboratory tests such as urinalysis and complete blood count, as well as diagnostic examinations like x-ray and ultrasound.

Jointly spearheaded by the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), YAKAP aims to provide medical care to students, teachers, and school personnel in line with President Marcos’ directive to expand access to health services. San Agustin Elementary School has around 500 enrolled students.

To reinforce school-based healthcare, DepEd has designated public school clinics as YAKAP providers.

During his visit, President Marcos also distributed food packs from the DepEd to 1,000 teaching and non-teaching personnel in San Fernando City who were affected by Typhoon Emong last July.

The President assured Ilocanos of continued government support, emphasizing that initiatives like YAKAP form part of efforts to make essential services more accessible to Filipinos.
