89 Misamis Occidental parolees, probationers get TUPAD aid for reintegration

Must read

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental — A total of 89 parolees and probationers under the Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) have received stipends through the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program in selected cities and municipalities across Misamis Occidental.

The initiative, part of the convergence program between DOLE and the Department of Justice–PPA, seeks to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of parolees and probationers into society.

“This program goes beyond financial aid—it fosters personal transformation by restoring dignity, reinforcing accountability, and rebuilding trust between beneficiaries and their communities,” said DOLE Misamis Occidental Provincial Director Ebba Borbon-Acosta.

Beneficiaries were distributed as follows: 23 from PPA Misamis Occidental, 23 from PPA Tangub, 21 from PPA Ozamiz, and 22 from PPA Oroquieta City. They took part in short-term, community-based employment such as clean-up drives, tree planting, and other labor activities that contribute to local development.

DOLE and PPA said the convergence program not only provides temporary employment but also empowers parolees and probationers by allowing them to contribute meaningfully to their communities. The payout highlights the government’s commitment to providing livelihood opportunities for vulnerable groups and strengthening social reintegration efforts nationwide.
