The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has disbursed ₱227.5 million to the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) to cover benefit claims for Ischemic Heart Disease-Acute Myocardial Infarction (IHD-AMI)—more commonly known as a heart attack. The payment supported 459 patients admitted between December 21, 2024, and July 18, 2025.
This financial release came after PhilHealth expanded its coverage for IHD-AMI packages starting December 21, 2024, ensuring members can undergo life-saving cardiac procedures with reduced financial strain.
The revised benefit rates, now available in accredited hospitals nationwide, include:
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI): ₱523,853 (up from ₱30,300, a 1,629% increase)
Fibrinolysis: ₱133,500 (up from ₱30,290, a 900% increase)
Emergency Medical Services with Coordinated Referral and Interfacility Transfer: ₱21,900
Cardiac Rehabilitation after PCI: ₱66,140
The announcement was highlighted during an event attended by health leaders, including Dr. Edwin M. Mercado, Acting President and CEO of PhilHealth; Dr. Israel Francis A. Pargas, Senior Vice President for Health Finance Policy; Dr. Bernadette C. Lico, Regional Vice President of PRO NCR; along with Dr. Avenilo L. Aventura Jr., PHC Executive Director, and Dr. Christopher C. Cheng, PHC Deputy Executive Director for Medical Services.
